Here at Southeastern Septic LLC, we have been providing expert septic services for over 10 years. During our many years in this industry, we have learned just about all there is to know about how to keep septic systems in good condition, and we want to pass that knowledge on to our clients. As a first step toward this goal, we have put together this article to give you three septic system maintenance tips from our experts.
- Pump Regularly- Our first septic system maintenance tip is to have your tank pumped regularly. There is only so much space inside your tank, so all the waste that is currently in there will need to be removed via pumping in order to keep the system in good working order. Our team can even put you on a pumping schedule to ensure that your system is never in danger of overflowing or backing up.
- Spread Out Your Washing- Our second septic system maintenance tip is to spread out your water usage throughout the week to avoid overloading your tank. While everyone in your household can still shower every day, it’s best to wash your dishes and do your laundry in multiple, full loads, and to space these loads apart rather than doing them back to back.
- No Trash in Your Toilet- The third septic system maintenance tip that we have for you is to use your toilets only for bodily waste and toilet paper, nothing else. Toilet paper is designed to break down inside septic tanks, while items like menstrual pads, diapers, and tissues are not, and could cause serious malfunctions if they were to get into your system.
