3 Signs That You Need Drain Field Repair
Our team at Southeastern Septic LLC wants to help you keep your septic system in good working order, as we know from experience just how unpleasant septic problems are to deal with, and we want to help you avoid them if possible. One of the most important parts of any septic system is the drain field, and you’ll need to keep an eye on it in order to make sure it is working properly. In this article, we’ll go over a few signs that you need drain field repair–if you see any of these things happening on your property, we encourage you to give us a call.

  1. Slow Drains- One sign that you need drain field repair is your sinks or toilets becoming slow to fully drain. While this problem could be the result of an over-full tank, it could also be caused by a blocked pipe in your drain field.
  2. Standing Water- Another sign that you likely need drain field repair is puddles of standing water in that area of your yard, even if it hasn’t rained recently. Puddles over your drain field mean that the water is not draining back into the soil gradually like it’s supposed to, and they often indicate a blockage of some kind.
  3. Overly Lush Grass- A third sign that you need drain field repair is related to the one above—namely, if you notice that the grass over the drain field has become much greener and thicker than the grass in the rest of your yard, you definitely have a problem. This lushness occurs when wastewater leaks out of the drain field pipes without being filtered properly, as the waste matter still in the water acts as fertilizer. While you may appreciate the healthier grass, this type of fertilizer is not at all healthy for the people and pets who share your property, so you’ll need to get the issue taken care of right away.
