Why You Need Septic Tank Pumping

Septic Tank Pumping
All waste management systems need maintenance to keep working. For homes connected to a municipal sewer system, that maintenance is the responsibility of the local government. But if your home has a septic tank, maintaining it is your responsibility. A critical part of taking care of your septic system is scheduling regular septic tank pumping. At Southeastern Septic LLC, we recommend a septic tank pumping every 3 to 5 years, depending on the size of your tank and number of residents in your home.

The reason that you need to have your septic tank pumped is that your tank has a limited capacity and must be periodically emptied. All the wastewater from your home flows through your pipes and into your tank. Water and other liquefied waste pass through the tank and into the drain field, which then slowly releases the liquid into the soil. Heavier, solid waste sinks to the bottom of the tank and remains there as sludge. Going too long between septic tank pumping can allow the sludge in your tank to build up too much, which can cause problems such as backups in your toilets and drains, or tank water seeping into your yard. These problems are unpleasant enough but can also quickly become expensive if left unaddressed.

Staying on track with regular septic tank pumping can help you avoid both the smell and the cost of septic problems. If you’re not sure when you last had your tank pumped, call our team at Southeastern Septic LLC, today to set up an inspection and pumping schedule.
